Othello

Game Rules

The game is played by two players.

The object of the game is to have the majority of disks turned to display your colour by the end of the game. The game pieces are black on one side and white on the other. Players take turns placing disks on the board with their assigned colour facing up. One play consists of bounding and turning over the opponent’s disks. By bounding, we mean that the opponent’s disk(s) are enclosed by the disk just placed and another disk of the current player’s colour and then turned over to the current player’s colour. Bounding might be done either diagonally or in a straight line. All the disks bounded by two disks of the same colour can be turned over.

Place two white and two black disks in the middle of the board to start.

The game ends when all the 64 game pieces have been placed on the board. The game is won by the player who has more disks of their own colour on the board.
